It is not an offence under section 2(1) for an individual to borrow, hire, use or possess an air weapon without holding an air weapon certificate while the individual is—
a
at an event in respect of which an event permit has been granted by the chief constable under section 17, and
b
engaging in an event activity.

In this paragraph, “event activity” has the meaning given in section 17(7).
