79Guidance and directions

The Welsh Ministers may give a local authority—
a
guidance about the authority's overview and scrutiny committee structure, or
b
directions about the authority's overview and scrutiny committee structure.

A local authority must have regard to guidance given by the Welsh Ministers under this section.

A local authority must comply with directions given by the Welsh Ministers under this section.

In this section, references to a local authority's overview and scrutiny committee structure include (but are not limited to) references to the following things—
a
the number of overview and scrutiny committees which the authority has;
b
the number of sub-committees (if any) which overview and scrutiny committees of the authority have;
c
the functions of overview and scrutiny committees of the authority;
d
the functions of sub-committees of overview and scrutiny committees of the authority.
