F121Duty to consult lay justices on matters affecting them etc.

The Lord Chancellor F2and the Lord Chief Justice must take all reasonable and practicable steps—
a
for ensuring that lay justices acting in a local justice area are kept informed of matters affecting them in the performance of their duties, and
b
for ascertaining their views on such matters.

The Lord Chief Justice may nominate a judicial office holder (as defined in section 109(4) of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005) to exercise his functions under this section.
