The Lord Chancellor must pay to the Commission such sums as he may determine are appropriate for, or in connection with, the exercise by it of its functions.

The Lord Chancellor may by direction require the Commission—
a
not to incur costs and expenditure in excess of a specified amount without his consent;
b
to follow specified procedures in relation to its costs and expenditure.

A direction under sub-paragraph (2) may relate to all of the Commission's costs and expenditure, or to costs and expenditure of a specified description.
