The Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978 is amended as follows.

Part 3 is renamed “The Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court”.

In section 35 (appeals to Court of Appeal from High Court) in subsection (5) for “House of Lords” substitute “ Supreme Court ”.

In section 41 (appeals to the House of Lords in other criminal matters)—

a

in the sidenote and in subsection (1) for “House of Lords” substitute “ Supreme Court ”;

b

in subsection (2) for “the House of Lords” in each place and “that House” substitute “ the Supreme Court ”;

c

omit subsection (3);

d

in subsections (4) and (6) for “House of Lords” substitute “ Supreme Court ”.

In section 42 (appeals to the House of Lords in civil cases)—

a

in the sidenote and in subsections (1) and (2) for “House of Lords” substitute “ Supreme Court ”;

b

omit subsections (3), (4) and (5).
