Spoilt ballot papers

This rule applies if a voter has inadvertently dealt with his or her ballot paper in a manner which means that it cannot conveniently be used as a ballot paper and—

a

the voter delivers the ballot paper (in these rules referred to as “a spoilt ballot paper”) to the presiding officer, and

b

proves the fact of the inadvertence to the satisfaction of the officer.

The voter may obtain a replacement ballot paper and the spoilt ballot paper must be cancelled immediately.
