Schedule 1 to the Interpretation Act 1978 is amended as follows.

At the appropriate place insert—

“The Sentencing Code” means the code contained in the Sentencing Act 2020 (see section 1 of that Act).

In paragraph (a) of the definition of “The standard scale”, for “has the meaning given by section 37 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982” substitute “ has the meaning given by section 122 of the Sentencing Code (or, in the case of an offence of which the offender was convicted before that Act came into force, section 37 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982) ”.
