I19Other functions of the Regulator

The Regulator may prepare and publish guidance or reports on any matter relating to forensic science activities carried on in England and Wales.

The Regulator may provide advice or assistance relating to forensic science activities carried on in England and Wales to any person.

The reference to any person in subsection (2) includes any person in a country or territory outside the United Kingdom.

As soon as reasonably practicable after the end of each reporting period the Regulator must—

a

prepare a report about the exercise of the Regulator's functions during that period,

b

publish the report in such manner as the Regulator considers appropriate, and

c

provide the report to the Secretary of State.

The Secretary of State must lay the report before Parliament.

In subsection (4) “reporting period” means—

a

the period of 12 months beginning with the date on which section 1 comes into force, and

b

each successive period of 12 months.

The Regulator may do anything (except borrow money) the Regulator thinks necessary or appropriate for the purposes of, or in connection with, the Regulator's functions.
