OFFICIAL SECRETS

The Official Secrets (Jersey) Order in Council, 1952

Made

23rd May 1952

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 23rd day of May, 1952

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas by the Official Secrets (Jersey) Law, 1952, which Her Majesty has this day been pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to approve and ratify, the legislature of Jersey has made provisions which appear to Her Majesty to be of the like effect as those contained in the Official Secrets Acts, 1911 to 1939 (1), and it is accordingly expedient under the powers conferred by section eleven of the Official Secrets Act, 1911, to suspend the operation of the said Acts within the Island of Jersey:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of the said section eleven is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

1.  The operation within the Island of Jersey of the Official Secrets Acts, 1911 to 1939, shall be suspended so long as the Official Secrets (Jersey) Law, 1952, continues in force in the said Island, and no longer:

Provided that the suspension of the said Acts in the said Island shall not extend to the holder of an office under Her Majesty who is not appointed to that office by the Government of the said Island.

2.  This Order may be cited as the Official Secrets (Jersey) Order in Council 1952.
