The ballot of every voter must consist of a ballot paper, which must be in the appropriate form.

Each registered party which remains validly nominated at the election and whose party list includes a person who remains validly nominated as a list candidate, after any withdrawals, and no other, is entitled to have their authorised description inserted in the ballot paper.

Each person remaining validly nominated as an individual candidate at the election, after any withdrawals, and no other, is entitled to have their name inserted in the ballot paper.

Every ballot paper—

a

must F1, so far as practicable for the purposes of electronic counting, be printed in accordance with the directions set out in the Forms Schedule,

b

must contain the authorised descriptions of the registered parties; and the names and other particulars of the individual candidates as shown in the statement of persons nominated,

c

must have a number and other unique identifying mark printed on the back, and

d

may, in the case of ballot papers for use at polling stations, be marked with the words “do not fold”.

If a request is made by or on behalf of a registered party's nominating officer, the ballot paper must contain, against the party's authorised description, the party's registered emblem (or, as the case may be, one of the party's registered emblems).

The request under paragraph (5) must—

a

be made in writing to the GLRO, and

b

be received by him during the period for delivery of nomination papers and party lists set out in the timetable in rule 3.

The order of the authorised descriptions of the registered parties and the names of the individual candidates must be in the same order as in the statement of parties and persons nominated.

The GLRO must supply the ballot papers for use at the election to the CRO by such date as may be agreed between them.

The ballot papers supplied under paragraph (8) must be of a different colour from those used at any relevant election or referendum with which the election is taken.
