The Greater London Authority Act 2007 (Commencement No.2) Order 2008

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 59(7) and (9) of the Greater London Authority Act 2007(1), makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Greater London Authority Act 2007 (Commencement No.2) Order 2008.

(2) In this Order—

“the Act” means the Greater London Authority Act 2007.

Provisions coming into force on 21st January 2008

2.  The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on 21st January 2008—

(a)Part 1, so far as it is not yet in force;

(b)Part 2;

(c)Part 3;

(d)Part 4;

(e)Part 5;

(f)section 29;

(g)section 37;

(h)section 39;

(i)sections 40 to 44, so far as they are not yet in force;

(j)section 50, so far as it is not yet in force;

(k)Part 10, so far as it is not yet in force;

(l)Schedule 1; and

(m)section 57 and Schedule 2, so far as they are not yet in force and so far as they give effect to the repeals relating to the Greater London Authority Act 1999(2) and the Railways Act 2005(3).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Article 2 of this Order brings into force on 21st January 2008, the following provisions of the Greater London Authority Act 2007 in so far as they are not already in force—

The Greater London Authority Act 2007 (Commencement No. 1 and Appointed Day) Order 2007 (S.I.2007/3107) also appointed 30th October 2007 for the purposes of section 59(6) of the Act (which provides that sections 12 to 14 have effect in relation to financial years beginning on or after an appointed day).
