in constructing any protective works under the provisions of paragraph 8(3)(a);

in respect of the approval by the engineer of plans submitted by the promoter and the supervision by the engineer of the construction or repair of a specified work and any protective works;

in respect of the employment during the construction of the specified works or any protective works of any inspectors, watchmen and other persons whom it shall be reasonably necessary to appoint for inspecting, watching and lighting any waterway and for preventing, so far as may be reasonably practicable, interference, obstruction, danger or accident arising from the construction or failure of the specified works or any protective works;

in bringing the specified works or any protective works to the notice of users of the Board’s network, including notice of the exercise of the powers conferred by article 20 (temporary closure of, and works in, waterways); and

in carrying out any assessment or monitoring of the impact of the authorised works on any waterway.
