Correction of minor errors12A

The returning officer may, at any time before publication under rule 12 of the statement of persons nominated, correct minor errors in a nomination paper.

Errors which may be corrected include—

a

errors as to a person's electoral number;

b

obvious errors of spelling in relation to the details of a candidate; or

c

obvious errors of spelling in relation to the description of a registered political party (including a joint description) authorised as mentioned in rule 5A.

Anything done by the returning officer in pursuance of this rule must not be questioned in any proceedings other than proceedings on an election petition.
