The burning of relevant waste as a fuel in an appliance if the requirements in sub-paragraph (4) are met.

For the purposes of this paragraph, the specific conditions are that—

a

the total quantity of waste burned over any period of 1 hour is less than 50kg,

b

the total quantity of waste stored at any one time does not exceed 10 tonnes, and

c

the waste is stored in a secure place.

The requirements in this sub-paragraph are that—

a

the appliance has a net rated thermal input of less than 0.4 megawatts, and

b

where it is used together with other appliances (whether or not it is operated simultaneously with such other appliances), the aggregate net rated thermal input of all the appliances is less than 0.4 megawatts.
