6. Despite the repeal of the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002(1) by the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, Schedule 1 to that Act (electoral regions in England and Gibraltar) continues to have effect after exit day as it had effect immediately before that day for the purposes of the definition of “electoral region” in section 8(1) of the European Parliament (Pay and Pensions) Act 1979(2).

1979 c. 50. In the definition of “electoral region” in section 8(1), the reference to the European Parliament was substituted for the reference to the European Assembly by section 3(1) of the European Communities (Amendment) Act 1986 (c. 58).
