in paragraph (1), for “The Council”, substitute “Subject to paragraphs (1A) and (1B), the Council”

after paragraph (1), insert—

Where the applicant holds a specified state qualification, the documentary and other evidence which is required to accompany applications of the kind mentioned in paragraph (1) must be no more than is necessary to demonstrate to the Registrar that the applicant satisfies the conditions set out in article 20(1).

Where the applicant holds a specified state qualification, the Council must accept certified copies of documents in place of original documents, unless it requires original documents to protect the integrity of the application process.

For the purposes of paragraph (1B), a certified copy of a document is one which is certified to be a true copy of the original by a solicitor practising in any part of the United Kingdom.
