The Education (Wales) Measure 2009 (Commencement No.2) Order 2011

The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 26 of the Education (Wales) Measure 2009(1), make the following Order:

Title and interpretation

1.—(1) The title of this Order is the Education (Wales) Measure 2009 (Commencement No.2) Order 2011.

(2) This Order applies in relation to Wales.

(3) In this Order—

Commencement

2.  Sections 21 (foundation phase) and 22 (Local curriculum entitlements for students aged 16 to 18) of the 2009 Measure are to come into force on 1 September 2011.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This is the second commencement Order made by the Welsh Ministers under the Education (Wales) Measure 2009 (“the 2009 Measure”). The Order brings sections 21 and 22 of the 2009 Measure into force on 1 September 2011.

Section 21 of the 2009 Measure removes the references to the first key stage from Part 7 of the Education Act 2002 and also substitutes references to the foundation phase in Part 7 of the Education Act 2002 for references to the foundation stage.

Section 22 of the 2009 Measure makes minor amendments to sections 33F(1)(a) and 33N(1) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000.
