Explanatory Memorandum to Firearms (Northern Ireland) Order 2004

Article 59 - Use of firearm to resist arrest

Makes it an offence for a person to use a firearm or imitation firearm to resist or prevent the arrest or detention of either himself or another person.  It is also an offence if a person is in possession of a firearm or imitation firearm at the time of committing, or being arrested for, an offence specified in Schedule 4, unless he shows that he had it for a lawful purpose.
