4 (1) The provisions of Part I of the [1965 c. 56.] Compulsory Purchase Act 1965 (so far as applicable), other than section 31, shall apply in relation to the acquisition of land by agreement under section 142 above ; and in the said Part I as so applied " land " shall have the meaning given by the [1978 c. 30.] Interpretation Act 1978.

(2) For the purpose of the acquisition by agreement of land in Scotland under section 142 of this Act, the Lands Clauses Acts (except the provisions relating to the purchase of land otherwise than by agreement and the provisions relating to access to the special Act, and except sections 120 to 125 of the [1845 c. 19.] Lands Clauses Consolidation (Scotland) Act 1845) and sections 6 and 70 of the [1845 c. 33.] Railways Clauses Consolidation (Scotland) Act 1845 and sections 71 to 78 of that Act, as originally enacted and not as amended for certain purposes by section 15 of the [1923 c. 20.] Mines (Working Facilities and Support) Act 1932 shall be incorporated with section 142 of this Act, and in construing those Acts for the purpose of that section, that section shall be deemed to be the special Act, and the urban development corporation to be promoters of the undertaking or company, as the case may require ; and in those Acts as so incorporated " land " shall have the meaning given by the Interpretation Act 1978.
