These Regulations are the third commencement Regulations made under the Wales Act 2017 (c. 4) (“the Act”).
Regulation 2 brings into force section 24 of the Act relating to existing licences to search, bore for and get petroleum, which allows the Secretary of State to direct that licences granted in respect of an area only part of which is within the “Welsh onshore area” (as defined in section 24(6)) have effect as separate licences in respect of the English and Welsh areas, and make amendments to existing licences which are wholly or partially within the Welsh onshore area.
Section 24 comes into force four months after the day on which these Regulations are made.
