1.  These Regulations may be cited as the European Parliamentary Elections Etc. (Repeal, Revocation, Amendment and Saving Provisions) (United Kingdom and Gibraltar) (EU Exit) Regulations 2018 and come into force on [F131st December 2020].

2.  Any amendment, repeal or revocation made by these Regulations has the same extent as the provision to which it relates M1.

Marginal Citations

M1Section 24(3) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 provides that regulations under section 8(1) or 23 of that Act may make provision extending to Gibraltar for purposes relating to European Parliamentary elections. These Regulations extend to Gibraltar to the extent that the amendment, repeal or revocation of a provision which extends to Gibraltar also extends to Gibraltar.

6.  Despite the repeal of the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002 M2 by the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, Schedule 1 to that Act (electoral regions in England and Gibraltar) continues to have effect [F3on and after 31st December 2020] as it had effect immediately before that day for the purposes of the definition of “electoral region” in section 8(1) of the European Parliament (Pay and Pensions) Act 1979 M3.
